Situated at the centre of a grand terrace, Kensington Townhouse offered an exceptional opportunity for synthesising innovation with tradition. The grandeur of the façade would be retained while the low-quality interior was completely rebuilt to accommodate a family house of exceptional quality; a house which would appeal to international inventors, at once definitively rooted in its neighbourhood and engaged with the changing trajectory of luxury real estate.
Extremely high levels of thermal insulation have been installed to ensure the house achieves the very high standards in sustainability. A contemporary kitchen system has been designed in collaboration with Boffi and hand-crafted at their workshop in Italy. Further, the smart home functionality goes beyond what might be expected even in a home of this quality, with Crestron and Lutron Electronics offering a unique home entertainment preposition.
The case for bringing this more spacious and luxurious home into being was made transparent by the architects, who succeeded not only in securing planning but in ensuring the construction was zero-rated for VAT. Now grandiose full-storey bedrooms and subterranean media rooms jostle for attention with the imposing façade.
