Ethel Day 2025.

To celebrate Ethel day 2025, we are celebrating the team of inspirational women at Rodic Davidson Architects!

The RIBA was founded in 1834, but it was 60 years later that the first woman was permitted admittance. The admittance of Ethel Mary Charles in 1898, and the admittance of Ethel’s sister, Bessie Ada Charles, two years later, marked a significant moment for the RIBA and women over the UK. However, their acceptance, did not change the attitude of some people, who believed that women did not have a place in the architectural profession. The attitudes expressed, illustrate the adversity that women architects faced in their attempts to create their own presence in the industry.

121 years after Ethel Charles became the first woman architect to join the RIBA, at Rodic Davidson, we celebrate the achievements of the inspirational team of female architects, and are fortunate that females make up 7 out of 13 members of staff.
