Apartment, St John’s Wood, NW8

The Contemporary Refurbishment of a St John’s Wood Apartment
Completed 2010, Private Client
RD Architects, London Office

The apartment is on the 4th floor of a purpose built apartment block with wonderful views overlooking Regents Park. No external works were proposed so it was a rare occasion where local authority approval was not required. We did, however, need to obtain Landlord’s consent.

Our brief was to design and supervise the refurbishment of the apartment within a tightly defined timeframe and to a modest budget.

We responded by speedily developing an efficient plan that required very little structural intervention and sought to utilise as many of the pre-existing service locations as possible. We also sought to prioritise the available budget. We wished to maintain the highest quality over the most important items (such as purpose made fitted joinery) with offset economies provided elsewhere (such as cost effective sanitary ware and simple white decorations throughout). The refurbishment works were completed on time and within budget.
